Exactly xD I remember the movie in the cinema, and with certain scenes I still get the cinema-feeling (you know what I mean, don't you? ^^) like for example the bath scene.
I was 8 back then and I didn't understand half of the jokes in this movie... I liked it, but I wasn't a hardcore Fan back then.
2001 to Christmas, the Movie aired in Free-TV and we recorded it. That was pretty late that year, so I guess I became a real fan first in 2002. The VHS was so excessively watched that one day it got entangled with our Player. The player was broken, but we tried everything to save the VHS xD
Now during the finale-scene the VHS shudders IN the fight, and that's such a perfect timing like Mulan: *throws the Hun-Archer to the ground* Movie: Frzzz... *shudder*
That somehow fit so well, I miss it on the original xD Anyway because the VHS was risking to break another and this time the new Player we settled to buy the DVD ^^

I saw the musical videos by Christina Aguilera, 98° and Stevie Wonder, and the LatinAmerican singers who performed the Mulan songs, and the trailers, the images really caught my attention, and since then I felt a strong desire to watch the movie. Then,a cousin who had seen it told me a little bit about the Movie, and specially about Mushu. I really really really wanted to watch the movie. I think the next day, I went with my cousins, my sister and my childhood best friend to watch the movie...I swear we were at the movie theater like an hour and a half-before the movie started. Then, the movie started. I laughed so hard at Mushu's antics, the gang of three, and Ping's clumsiness. ;D And then tears ran down my eyes in the part where Ping's true identity is discovered and Shang rose the sword, :'(and I was so angry at him because he left her behind and sent her home. And I got goosebumps when the Emperor and then the rest of China bow at Mulan after she defeated Shan-Yu. So I guess that was the moment when I became a Mulan fan. I was eleven years old back then, about to turn twelve. And I guess a strong reason why I liked Mulan so much was that I was always a bit independent and different from the rest of the girls my age. So she became my role model. I actually wrote my first fanfiction like three days after I saw a movie...it was like five pages long, but it was a start. For my twelveth birthday I got the Mulan and Shang dolls, and then I bought a little plastic Mushu figurine (because how could I play without Mushu?) And well my collection has increased over the years. I've got Khan, stuffed Mushu, pins, and anything I see that has to do with Mulan, I buy it. ;D Now it's been ten years, since that day at the movie theater I became a life-time Mulan fan, and proud of it.

and it was a disney movie i have been hooked on disney ever since i was 18 months old Yeah, we all love Disney that's a fact ^^ But I think it's kinda hard for Mulan to compete with other Disney Movies (Well, not for me, but it's a not-so popular Disney Movie concerning the communities when I look at "The Lion King" or movies like that). So would you consider Mulan as your "Top Fav"? Or do you "just like it"? Both is alright you know xD

Yes I have noticed Mulan isn't nearly as popular as Little Mermaid or Lion King for example but I would have to say it's in my top favorites along side of aladdin films, lion king films, little mermaid films, tarzan films, brother bear films, pocahontas films, narnia films, hercules. All the other disney movies are in my favorites and like categories.

I watched the movie... about 3 times or something and it was like all the other movies. Anyway, Mushu and Cri-kee were my faves that time xD Then I watched the Otto Waalkes movies wich were recuring month later and I thought "Well, I could watch Mulan again!" And I watched it again... and again... and again! xD But that's long ago, so I din't remember everything, the VHS was broken. Then, some time ago, Levy startet her "Mushu-attacks" and that reminded me of this very lovely movie. x3
But... the second movie... I guess I watched it the first time some weeks ago xD

You know, I just found out today that SuperRTL is airing "The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2" AGAIN. They probably pull the whole sequel lot along again... I know nothing for sure here, but if they do, they will probably show Mulan 2 again too (for like the... 4th time this year now? xD).

I knew Mulan was going to be one of my faves since the very moment I saw its beginning in the cinema. I liked it sooo much, even if I was very young.
But it became my absolute favourite (maybe, along with Anastasia only) when I bought the VHS.
I watched it, and re-watched it, and then watched it again. I was totally obsessed by that movie! XD
A friend and I, at school, used to draw half Mulan for each (we used to take a sheet, draw just Mulan's silhouette, and cut the paper in two: then one of us drew half Mulan, dressed as a warrior, and the other one drew her dressed for the matchmaker; then we reunited the two halves of the sheet*).
Now I'm 21, but that doesn't prevent me to prepare a Mulan cosplay for the next "Comics Fair", and to quote Mulan every time I can. For example: today was my first day of work (as a fiscal operator, yuch! Thanks Mushu is only for 3 months): I wrote, as a personal message on MSN, the Italian translation of "Now remember, it's your first day of trainin', so listen to your teacher and no fighting".
My friends got the allusion. Immediately. ... And that makes them even more fanatical than me. XDD
*Yeah, I know it's very odd, but for some reason we though it was funny. We were, like, 10 years old, after all!

WOW! You guys have awesome stories how you became Mulan fans! And that means it's going to hit it's 11th bday soon in June. YAY! Speaking of 11, it's been so many years since the movie caught my attention I think it was from the trailers at the movie theaters or maybe a preview from my old previous disney VHS tapes that made me wanna see it. It was also another Eddie Murphy movie that I HAD to watch (My first Eddie Murphy movie I saw was The Nutty Professior and Mulan came in second before I ever saw Dr. Dolittle) As I said before in my intro, I was around 9 years old at the time. The movie came out just about a week after my 9th birthday and I really wanted to see Mulan so bad! Being a disney fan and all. So I beg my dad to take me to go see it (not sure what my mom was doing around at that time. Mulan was the only disney movie she missed out for some reason when I was growing up with those flicks! ) Saw it and really loved it! I went to go see it again around the second time when my sister and niece called (I don't know if my niece still remembers us watching that movie together when we were young. She was only 4 years old when we saw it.) And as always, I tend to get much merchandise from the movie such as the McDonald toys, the main book, the CD-ROM game, the VHS tape, a coloring book from Disneyland, a stuffed Mushu toy when you pat him at the bottom of his butt and talks (I still have it lol) I still remember to this day after I saw the movie some days after, or weeks maybe can't recall, I was at Disneyland this one time with my mom (I don't think my dad was there when I went) and we watch the Mulan parade because of it's new release. I'll never forget that day when I saw Mulan, Mushu and Shang in the parade. It was so cool! I also knew at that very moment Mushu was going to be my fave cause he capture my heart for that movie too. And he'll always be my favorite. I never got to see Mulan and Mushu again after that til years later when they open Disney's California Adveture in 2001. I got to see them around in 2004 when I took a friend with me over (it was her first time there) and so I got their pictures and autograph. It was really cool!

Actually....since 2 years ago . For some dark and mysterious reason we didn't go to the cinema for this film, even though we had planned to go. I never got it on VHS and so it happened that I haven't seen it untill 2 years ago, when I decided it would be time to watch it, finally xD. Since then it's one of my favs ^^. This movie also has the priveledge to be in my minor DVD-collection, so for that it means that the movie is special enough to be in that collection xD. And.... finally since last week I own it on VHS too xD

I was a fan since the beginning. Between school trips, watching with parents, siblings, various relatives, and just because it was awesome, I ended watching the movie eight times while it was still in theaters (a personal best). I was always a Disney freak, but this completely engulfed me since "Mulan" had everything a person could ever wish for from a movie.

I became a fan from the very first time I saw it. I was 5 years old and became obsessed instantly. My family and I had just moved into a new house so my mom drove me to kindergarten for the rest of the school year as it was about 30 minutes away. On the way there and back we would listen to I'll Make a Man Out of You continuously from the Mulan cassette tape, lol. I think my unhealthy obsession with Shang started right there! I also remember my mom bringing home Mulan on VHS the day it came out and being so excited. I still own it and watch it to this day! :)
