...because they can change the name, but that's what I'm gonna call it.
Coming next month is the newest (and a landmark 50th) Disney animated feature film - and the 'last of the red-hot fairy tales' as some put it - which was originally titled Rapunzel.
I *think* I get why they changed the name (though I'm still not happy with it). From the marketing standpoint it's to make the movie seem less about a princess to get more boys to wanna see it since they don't think PatF did as well as it should've.
But also it could be that it's like Beauty & the Beast, where the story is in nearly equal parts both Rapunzel's and her love interest Flynn's. I'm personally hoping Flynn will be a Disney version of Miguel & Tulio from Dreamwork's Road to El Dorado, with the charismatic thief angle.
While the trailers are leaving something to be desired for me, I know not to judge completely by them because they usually always lie.
The thing I'm most excited about would be the songs. It's the return to fully animated Disney for Alan Menken, the wonderous composer for the music and songs in such films as Little Mermaid and B&tB.
Also I'm pretty happy about Mandy Moore as the main character. I wasn't excited at first, but since she can actually both sing and act (which is a rarity, especially if one can do both well which is the case here).
US release date is 24th November
Song list as follows (from what we know):
~"Prologue" by Donna Murphy as "Mother Gothel" and Delaney Stein as "Young Rapunzel"
~"When Will My Life Begin?" by Mandy Moore as "Rapunzel
~"When Will My Life Begin? (Reprise 1)" Performed by Mandy Moore as "Rapunzel"
~"Mother Knows Best" by Donna Murphy as "Mother Gothel"
~"When Will My Life Begin? (Reprise 2)" by Mandy Moore as "Rapunzel"
~"I've Got a Dream" by Brad Garrett as "Hook-Hand Thug," Jeffrey Tambor as "Big Nose Thug," Mandy Moore as "Rapunzel," Zachary Levi as "Flynn Rider" and Ensemble
~"Mother Knows Best (Reprise)" by Donna Murphy as "Mother Gothel"
~"I See the Light" by Mandy Moore as "Rapunzel" and Zachary Levi as "Flynn Rider"
~"Healing (Incantation)" by Mandy Moore as "Rapunzel"

~"Something That I Want" by Grace Potter (Ending Credits)
