I've been sick for three days now and I still can't go outside. So I'm rewatching all of my old Disney films and especially The Hunchback of Notre Dame suprises me.When I was little I didn't realise how many mature things there are in that movie XD We have murder, rape, lust, abnormity, hell and a lot of implied statements. Overall, the film is REALLY mature. It's hard to believe Disney made this for little children .This should be at least above 12 years or older(sorry, don't know the rating stuff in other countries.)

I know,right
And Disney even tried to make it less cruel then in the book!
The Victor Hugo novel is waaaaay more worse!

Victor Hugo? Lol Gargoyles Hommage.
I knew that back when that movie came to cinemas I saw it and it stayed in my head for a long long time because the opening sequence with Frollo and the well gave me nightmares. I was far too young for this movie back then (considering I was even too young for Mulan to get the jokes, and that was 2 years afterwards).
I just recently got the DVD when it came back out again over here (and about 2 weeks after that it aired on TV <.< well crap xD). And I found yet again how dark that movie was, I mean... geez... But it's good Disney does that. The early movies were pretty creepy at parts too (Snow-White the forest or the transformation, Pinoccio the Donkey scene...) Sometimes people NEED to be scared, it's a strange strange part of education. Like those children books "Shock-headed Peter" or "Max & Moritz".

Watch it in French, it sounds really really cool in French! ^^
Oh yes, it was. The book even moreso, it's amazing how even when it's been 'Disneyfied' it still holds a lot of the mature topics, but that's one of the reasons it is so great. I find it great that it doesn't really dumb down some of those aspects, because the kids do need to know things like that exist, and plus half the stuff goes over their heads until they are older and can appreciate them (like it did when I was little).
This was the first movie I ever saw in theaters more than once. Also my french teacher let us watch it and didn't give us a big rant about all the differences between the source material and it (like with Hercules...but we already knew most of those differences)

Ah yes, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Believe it or not, it was actually one of my favorites as a little kid. And I was never scared of the heavy scenes they put in there haha how weird is that? ;D

When I watched the Hunchback of Notre Dame when I was younger,I didn't even know that Frollo was a b@&$^5) when he was singing about his lust for Esmeralda and Hell. XD
