Okay, hope I'm doing this right.
Name: Wei
Occupation: Guardian of the Du family
Species: Tiger
Special Guardian Powers: Cunning
Level of Craziness: Ranging from medium to high (and by crazy, I mean dangerously and violently crazy)
How Much He Hates Mushu: Extremely high
Personality and History: Wei is the guardian of Du Heng in my story "Vengeance Will Be Mine," and he is very closed minded. He puts extremely high emphasis on tradition, honor, and the old ways of life, as does Heng. Unfortunately, they see Mulan as a threat to all three of these things. And that leads to trouble for everyone.
The feline guardian is very strict about the rules. For him, they are nearly as important as honor and tradition. Actually, he sees them as being nearly the same thing. Which is part of the reason he hates and scorns Mushu so much. Unlike the dragon, he would never "bend" the rules of being a guardian or disobey a direct order from the ancestors.
Wei is very cunning. In fact, that is his main gift. He can take a situation, examine all the possible logical outcomes and plan on how to use these various scenarios in order to win. But when one of the variables begin acting in a purely illogical fashion (again, like Mushu does), he does not respond well. Honestly, he begins to act more insane as he attempts to regain control of the situation. By one point, he is torn between fulfilling his duty to remain with Heng and his desire to kill the annoying dragon.
Finally, unlike Mushu's and Mulan's relationship, he does not see Du Heng as his friend. He views his duty to guard him as a "duty" only. He will do it to the best of his ability because it is his job, not because he like him. He only cares about fulfilling his duty and bringing honor to the Du family. This is part of the reason he sees Mushu's behavior as illogical: because Wei would never make the same decisions if he was in the dragon's position.
Special Note: "Wei" translates to mean "power, strength, towering, lofty, great, mighty, etc..."
