I've said this before and I'll say it again...
Mulan is not a princess. A princess is a title that is sometimes deserved, but it is never one that is earned. It is given by birth or by marriage. Mulan earned her status as the savior of China by sheer nerve and merit, and of the two titles, I know which one I would rather have.

Hmm, I don't really consider Mulan to be a Princess. She is a Heroine because of her role in the movie. However, she was not born a princess nor did she marry a prince... there for Mulan = non princess.

She isn't technically a princess.
But Disney's definition of princess seems to be "a major female character of a movie that may or may not be of royal heritage, but definitely gains some kind of important standing among the other characters." If we follow that kind of logic, then she would be a Disney princess. Just not a princess by normal definitions.

I agree that Mulan is not a princess and it irks me that she's always in these too pretty dresses, and there's this one pic of a Mulan doll with a horse full of jewels and whatnot! GRR! But I do agree with alliriyan's plot on what would make the trailer better. Someone's gotta make a fanfic of the magic cricket switching Mushu and Mulan's bodies!

Mulan wouldn't be called a princess because she's even not shown on Disney Princess merchandise with the other princesses. She's more of a Disney Warrior, alongside with Pocahontas and Merida from the upcoming Disney/Pixar film "Brave".

Well, according to Disney, every girl is a princess. So, you could say that this sort of fits in their entire message to young girls.
I'm actually more hurt over the fact that they actually GIVE her the title and yet ignore her existense most of the time. :s

I agree with you that Mulan is always being ignored.
