Name: Li Ching Lan. Her given name means 'beautiful orchid', but I picked it mostly because I thought it was pretty and easy to remember.
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Age: Nearly 20
Parents: Li Deshung & Yun.
Grandparents: Li Shang & Mulan (paternal), (what is Yao's last name?) Yao & Mei (maternal) Yes, I know, sooo original ;-) .
Appearance: A round face, not quite so wide as Mei’s, but close. Narrow, arched eyebrows. Dark eyes exactly like Mulan’s. A little wider in frame than normal (girl has a few curves, but not really big. Being big was actually a sign of wealth in those days).
Her hair is on the long side, she has it down a lot of the time, but that presents a problem when she needs to do certain things. When she puts it up usually it’s in a bun, but she has enough know-how to fix it so she can leave two sections in the back to point in different directions, like a forked tongue. (I happen to think that the princesses’ hair styles were in honor of their Chinese zodiac animals. Ting-Ting = rabbit, Mei = ox/bull/cow, Su = Monkey…I’m pretty sure. Ching’s hair could work for the year of the snake or dragon.)
Ching was born into the family after some significant changes in the family Li, so she’s grown up in a different environment than Mulan did. While her whole family has been loving to her – in their own ways – she feels conflicted due to the differences in her grandparents’ relationship with each other and her parents’.
She was given the choice after much debate to choose a husband for herself, but it’s been a while and she’s nearly past marrying age. She feels sort of rushed to get a move on before her parents go ahead and choose for her.
She can come off as a little whiny sometimes, but most of the time she composes herself well. She is also kind of internal and sometimes stubborn, which is apparently something I like in my leading ladies.
She has a fair relationship with her mother and her grandparents, but her father is often distant. She does know that he loves her. She loves her baby brother Enlai the best, I think.
Not really sure what else to put about her. If I go any further it starts getting into spoiler territory. Haven't found a good song for her yet, and she might not be the most well-rounded character. But Levy invited me here and I thought I'd start with her.
