It seems that Disney's drawers are just too busy to always think about new and different scenes, nowadays... Or, maybe, they just think, in good faith: "Hey, that scene worked fine the first time. People laughed and thought it was funny. Let's repeat the whole thing again!" You don't understand what I'm talkin' about, yet? I'll tell you. I am referring to "Brother Bear II", also known as "Mulan III: How To Re-use Old Scenes To Make A Brand New Movie"! ;D ;D ;D Let's see what I mean, with the help of a few pictures! Do you remember, right, when Mulan is late for her "beauty parlor" appointment... Well, Nita seems to have the same problem! Check that: the first one is Nita - Kinai's friend - the day she was supposed to marry, and... Yes, the other one is Mulan. Why do women in Disney movies have that strange custom to spill cold water on poor girls' head? Quite similar, isn't it? But we can do better. Take a look on this: Nita and Mulan should get a fashionable hairdo, right? Like... This! (Hey, I didn't noticed that before: the three women are dressed just the same way: Nita/Mulan in white, and their coiffeures in pink - on the left -and blue - on the right! Ah, coincidences... And, the "pink one" is short and fatter that the tall, slender "blue one"!) And, now, a nice dress! Aww, the fathers are so proud of their daughters, now! Aren't they sweet? But I don't think the two nice old men would be so happy to see their children like... That! They could be twins! Well... Almost! Of course, it's just made for fun: I thought the similarities between the two characters were funny, and made that topic to share my idea!

Disney is usually adapting scenes from other movies. I believe they want the audience to think "Hey I've seen that before!" It's probably a thing about being used/familiar with something, or... surreptitious advertising D8 Anyway Brother Bear 2 seemed to also contain a lot of Pocahontas and Tarzan material (Monkey Hunt, anyone?) And as most of the sequels it's all about love and such... I mean FORCEFULLY - like in Mulan 2 where absolutely everyone had to get coupled up - I hate stuff like that xx" I'm rambling xD Have some cookies Disney Animation ReuseGranted, it isn't as extreme like THAT in Brother Bear 2 - the frames aren't similar 1:1, yet you can clearly see where it has been inspired from... xD Sometimes they are also reusing scenes INSIDE the actual movie. Examples: The Lion King: Where Simba and Nala "pin" each other the first time as a child and as adults, the scene is timed exactly the same way. A lot of people use this in Videos. Brother Bear: The three little bears in "welcome" are doing the same movements than Kenai and his brothers in the beginning of "Gerat spirits" it's supposed to symbolize that there actually isn't any difference.

Happy New Year, this is the first time in 2009 I log into the forum. OMG they´re almost the same...it's like they used an editor where they could have the same scene and they just made mofications to the clothes and some slight changes in the features. I haven't seen Brother Bear 2, but I really liked the first one...well not as much as Mulan of course but I think it was a very good movie. I'll definitely have to see Brother Bear II now, haha.

I've just finished to re-watch Mulan for maybe the 100th time with my two brothers, and now the younger one, who's 10 years old, is going around saying "And I do not squeal like a girl. *Aaaaahhh!*" to everyone he meets!

Happy new year porcelain =) Brother Bear 2 is actually quite as poor as the Mulan sequel... I was positively surprised, because I expected it to be far worse, yet I don't like it. But hey, that's just me ^^ Chi-Fu is awesome, I really missed him in the sequel xD ( Discuss Chi-Fu [Topic])

I know this is old, but THANK YOU! I am so glad someone else noticed this, I am not crazy in this aspect at least! (and definately noticed the Pocahontas aspects too) But Levy, most of the Disney DVD sequels feel like fanfics brought to screen anyway.

Wow how did I not see this before? Your right! Nita and Mulan DO look like twins at the end of the pic. It's funny cause a lot of Youtube comments I see they always that Nita looks like a mixture between Pocahontas and Mulan. I think she looks a little bit like Nani from Lilo and Stitch because they sorta almost have the same features

Nita looks more like Nani than a mix between Pocahontas and Mulan.

They do have the same drawing style, that's for sure at least. With those "roundish" noses. I know Chris Sanders had Koda in that movie, but apparently he had a bigger role there too, since he made that drawing style for Lilo and Stitch, saying that the roundish design without edges would make the characters "huggable" (which made more sense when you had a "Monster" like Stitch, then with Brother Bear)
